1. Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between LawFirmWebDesign.co ("we", "us") and you ("you", "client") — the law firm, attorney, or solicitor hiring us. By commissioning work, signing a proposal, or paying an invoice you agree to these terms.
Anything specific to your project (scope, timeline, price) lives in your proposal or statement of work. If a term in your proposal conflicts with these, the proposal wins.
2. The work
We design, build, and maintain websites for law firms, attorneys, and solicitors across the US and UK. The exact deliverables for your project will be in your proposal. We will do the work to a professional standard, on time, and as agreed.
What we need from you
- Decisions and feedback within reasonable timeframes (5 working days unless agreed otherwise)
- Brand assets, attorney or solicitor biographies, practice area copy, and login details where relevant
- Approval of designs and content before launch
- Honesty about what is working and what is not
If we are stuck waiting on you for more than 30 days, we may pause the project. Restarting after a long pause may carry a small re-onboarding fee.
3. Pricing & payment
Our packages are fixed price. The number on your proposal is the number you pay — no surprise invoices. Anything outside the agreed scope is quoted separately before any work starts.
- 50% deposit on signature, payable before we start
- Remaining 50% on launch (or in agreed milestones for larger projects)
- Your fixed fee covers domain, hosting and uptime for the first 12 months
- Invoices are payable within 14 days
Our standard packages are priced at $2,995 / £2,395 (Firm Website) and $3,995 / £3,195 (Website + Brand). Bespoke scopes are quoted individually. Late payments may attract interest at the statutory rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 for UK clients, or at applicable statutory rates for US clients. We would rather not — please just pay on time.
4. Timelines
Our standard build runs to a 7-day launch window from kickoff, working copy, design and build in parallel. Larger or multi-page scopes are quoted with their own timeline in your proposal. These are estimates based on you providing what we need on time. We will never miss a deadline without warning you first.
5. Revisions
Each design phase includes one round of revisions. Major scope changes (extra pages, new features, complete redesigns mid-project) are quoted separately so you do not get a nasty surprise at the end.
6. Ownership & intellectual property
Once your final invoice is paid, you own the work — the designs, the content we write, and the custom code we built for you. You can move it to a different host or hand it to another developer whenever you want.
We retain ownership of: our internal toolkits, frameworks, and any third-party plugins or themes (which are licensed under their own terms). We also reserve the right to feature your project in our portfolio, unless you ask us not to.
7. Confidentiality
We understand that law firms operate under strict duties of client confidentiality and professional privilege. We do not seek access to, and you should not share with us, any privileged client files, case data, or matter-specific information. Materials you provide for your website — practice area descriptions, attorney biographies, firm history, and brand assets — are treated as strictly confidential and used solely for the purposes of delivering your project.
Any sensitive business information either party shares — such as financials, pricing, or strategy — stays between us. We expect the same in return for any methods, pricing, or documents we share with you.
8. Hosting & support
Your fixed fee includes the first 12 months online — domain, hosting, SSL and uptime monitoring. Beyond the first year, ongoing hosting is renewed annually at a rate agreed in writing. Additional support work outside that scope is quoted before any work starts.
We aim for 99.9% uptime but cannot guarantee an outage will never happen — the internet does not work that way. If a host or service we rely on goes down, we will work to restore service as fast as possible.
9. SEO outcomes
SEO is a long game. We follow current best practice and we have helped law firms rank on page one for competitive practice area terms — but Google does not make promises and neither do we. We can guarantee the work we do; we cannot guarantee specific rankings, traffic, or lead volumes.
10. Cancellation
You can cancel a project at any time. If you cancel before launch, you will be invoiced for work completed up to that point and the deposit is non-refundable. Ongoing hosting can be cancelled at the end of the annual term with 30 days notice.
We can cancel a project if you breach these terms, fail to pay, or behave abusively toward our team. We will always try to resolve issues before walking away.
11. Liability
Our total liability under any project is limited to the fees you have paid us for that project in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities), or for issues caused by third-party services, your own staff, or anything outside our reasonable control.
12. Governing law
For UK clients, these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and any dispute falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. For US clients, the governing law and jurisdiction will be specified in your proposal. We will always try to sort things out over a phone call first.
13. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your project is the one in force when you signed your proposal. For ongoing services we will give 30 days notice of any material change.
